Cold Busting Smoothie Recipe
Grab some fruits and veggies next time you're feeling sick
This smoothie is my go-to when I start feeling a tickle in my throat or a slight cold coming on! It’s packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and other nutrients all proven to boost the immune system. You know a battle is coming and you want your troops to be equipped for anything.
After consuming the smoothie It takes about an hour to start feeling some of its benefits. Both my husband and I felt cold symptoms coming on and after enjoying this smoothie they went away!
1 small orange
½ of fresh mango (or 1 cup frozen)
1/3 cup frozen strawberries
¼ TSP ground turmeric
A pinch of black pepper
¼ TSP ground ginger
½ cup alternative milk
1 TBSP chia seeds (optional)
Kale (amount to your liking)
Put all the ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
Note: I always add more ginger than listed because I enjoy the flavor but if you’re not used to ginger in your smoothie start with ¼ TSP and you can increase it. Ginger is a strong anti-inflammatory so if you have an infection coming-on it’s an amazing spice to add. It also seems to bring out more of the tangy citrus flavor of the smoothie, which I love.
